Wine

We are a vintner-founded winery, unwavering in our pursuit of fearless winemaking. With no pretense, no posing, and no nonsense, our work is guided by the same authenticity that shapes our lives. The result is a wine for those who refuse to compromise—a bold witness to your own story. That same curiosity has led us from the wild Sonoma Coast back to the spiritual home of Pinot Noir —Burgundy.

Pinot Noir

The subject of our decisive and resolute obsession, the most demanding yet creative of all the wine varietals – and for us, the most rewarding. Pinot Noir’s remarkable ability to become chameleon-like and adapt to showcase its nuances is the synergy that creates the might and gravitas signature of our wines.

Through a blend of organic, biodynamic and regenerative farming practices, our fruit is hand-harvested at night to retain natural, cool temperatures for less extractive phenolics during an extended cold soak followed by long and slow fermentation. Each vineyard is naturally fermented and whole-cluster pressed before final blending.

A classic varietal that speaks clearly with refinement and poise yet is full of rousing tension — and, the perfect accompaniment to Pinot Noir.

Our Chardonnay wines are farmed organically and undergo native yeast fermentation with the secondary, malolactic fermentation inhibited. Fruit is hand-harvested at night to retain natural, cool temperatures for less extractive phenolics. Aged Sur Lee with Bâtonnage for six months between toppings to create richness and texture while grounding the fruit to create a layered Burgundian-style wine embracing our California roots.

SECURE THE INAUGURAL ALLOCATION

The International Debut: Auteur Burgundy

The realization of a lifelong reverence—an uncharted detour from the rugged California coast to the historic limestone of the Côte de Nuits. In a landmark collaboration, we are proud to introduce the 2023 Auteur Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru. A micro-allocation from the smallest and most elusive Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin, this wine launches our winemaking chapter in Burgundy. Faced with once-in-a-lifetime offerings from the most fiercely guarded parcels on the slope—a feat very few “outsiders” ever achieve in Burgundy—I was presented with a wine possessing the exact crystalline salinity and perfume that first triggered my passion 30 years ago. I simply couldn’t say no.

For me, this is a profound, almost spiritual homecoming. As the son of a Hungarian refugee, my journey carries a lineage of survival and the drive to capture a kindred philosophy alongside the world’s most genuine producers. We have folded these rare allocations into our portfolio to launch the Auteur Burgundy Project—selections that proudly stand side-by-side with our Sonoma Coast wines.

From Curation to Creation The Auteur Burgundy Project is a long-term commitment to the region’s most storied terroirs. Our 2023 and 2024 vintages represent a period of meticulous selection, aligned with the Auteur vision and executed in partnership with Manoël Bouchet. This is more than a debut—it’s a permanent bridge between our Sonoma roots and the soul of the Côte d’Or.

Starting with the Fall 2025 harvest, we transition from curation to creationmoving into full production under our own hand in Meursault alongside my Burgundian brother, Pierre-Henri Rougeot. Our permanent footprint in the Côte d’Or will draw from a portfolio of revered appellations, including: Gevrey-Chambertin, Meursault, Corton & Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet.
