VINEYARD
For the first time “Ophelia” will be released with an AVA designation, for the simple reason that is was a spectacular Oregon vintage and the wine was just too good to justify blending it with anything else. Hailing from a ridgetop vineyard in the southern tip of the Eola Hills in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a combination of southern exposure for sunlight, ocean breezes to moderate temperature, volcanic soils, and a near-perfect growing season allowed the flavor of the grapes to ripen beautifully without requiring high sugar levels. A classic expression of Oregon Pinot Noir. |

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Deep ruby in color, with a hint of purple. The nose is pure Oregon, with blackfruit, earth, jasmine, lavender, potpourri and just a hint of caramel. The palate somehow manages to be both dark and lively, gracefully walking a tightrope between these opposing elements. Black cherry meets dark chocolate, raspberry meets plum and vanilla, and bright acidity is matched with firm, round tannins. The finish is brambly and earthy, yet still offers a hint of red fruit.
