Morning Pick at The Donum Estate in
Carneros
THE VINEYARD
Auteur's Chardonnay is 100% Old Wente
Clone planted on the estate in 1974. Old Wente offers its
signature acidic framework with vibrant floral and stone
fruit aromatics, with a long, lingering mineral finish.
Managed by veteran viticulturalist, Anne Moller-Racke, Donum
Estate sits in Sonoma's cool Carneros appellation, where
rattling winds slow the ripening process, creating delicate
and graceful wines.

THE WINEMAKING
Hand picked on October 11th of 2005,
the fruit was hand sorted, whole cluster pressed and barrel
fermented in French cooperage. Both fermentations, primary
and malolactic, were by native yeast and aged sur lies with
batonnage. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.
THE PALATE
A deep, concentrated bouquet of fresh
apricot, lychee, honeysuckle nectar and citrus nuances channel
into a dense palate of lemon, lime zest and crushed wet
stone. A round, satiated palate is framed with penetrating
acidity and chalky tannins, gracefully winding into a lasting,
lingering mineral finish, classic of the Old Wente Clone.
