THE VINES
Managed by veteran viticulturist, Anne
Moller-Racke, Donum Estate sits in Sonoma’s cool Carneros
appellation where rattling winds slow the ripening process
creating delicate and graceful wines. Auteur’s Chardonnay
is 100% Old Wente clone planted on the estate in 1974. Old
Wente offers its signature acidic framework with vibrant
floral aromatics and a long lingering mineral finish. |

THE JUICE
Hand-picked on September 6th of 2004,
the fruit was hand sorted, whole cluster pressed and transported
directly to barrel –30% new French cooperage, DJ “Cadet,”
Siruque Allier; and 70% neutral French cooperage. Both fermentations,
primary and malolactic, were by native yeast and aged sur
lies with batonnage. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.
THE PALATE
A powerful bouquet of honeysuckle, hazelnut,
wet stone, pink grapefruit and lychee fruit with upper notes
of fresh grated nutmeg folding into orange peel, brioche
and honeydew. The round full palate is framed with citrus
and extends to an impressively long mineral finish.
